Butcher, Revd. E. The beauties of Sidmouth displayed, being a descriptive sketch of its situation, salubrity and picturesque scenery.[
] Sidmouth: J. Wallis, 1820. p. 49. Myrtle Cottage, originally decorated by the taste of Miss Campbell, is delightfully situated, immediately under Salcombe Hill. The exterior of its garden, is washed by the Sid. Its last possessor, A. J. Ram, Esq. has added a green-house, and at a great expence [sic], very much enlarged and improved the premises, contributing in an eminent degree, to the truly attractive scenery of Sidmouth. One of the principal beauties of this scenery, is Egypt Cottage, pleasantly perched, like a nest in a grove, upon the lowest ridge of Salcombe hill, directly above Myrtle Cottage, the residence of the Rev. G. J. Cornish. .[Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.]
