Butcher, Revd. E. The beauties of Sidmouth displayed, being a descriptive sketch of its situation, salubrity and picturesque scenery.[…] Sidmouth: J. Wallis, 1820. p. 42 John Carslake, Esq. is the owner of this, [Cotmaton House] together with New Cotmaton, a house built by John Carslake, Esq. his late uncle, almost adjoining the old one. Its front looks full on the sea, and, like the terrace, in its beautiful garden, commands a fine view of it. The latter house may be hired, and is fit for the reception of a large genteel family .
