Scope and Content
Hutchinson, Peter Orlando. A new guide to Sidmouth and the neighbourhood. Sidmouth: Thomas Perry, 1857. pp. 28-9.This beach, from its being so stony, affords but few shells to the conchologist. In the pools amongst the rocks, especially the Chit rocks, very minute and beautiful univalves are sometimes to be met with among the black sand. Those who contemplate the formation of an aquarium, cannot do better than make one during their stay in Sidmouth; while those who have already collected one will find many most interesting additions. Both at Chit Rocks and at the base of High Peak hill will be found capital hunting grounds, at the lowest tides.[Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.]
