Scope and Content
Crossing, William. The western gate of Dartmoor. London: The Homeland Association, 1903. pp.78-9.The beautiful grounds form the chief attraction. The lawn and garden immediately surrounding the house comprise about twenty acres, and there are between three thousand and four thousand acres of woods and plantations. Through these the private roads run for many miles and afford the most enchanting views of the windings of the Tamar. The scenery of Endsleigh is among the most lovely in Devonshire, and no visitor should omit seeing it. The entrance, near the village of Milton Abbot, is about seven miles from Tavistock, the road thither running through Lamerton. An order to view the grounds may be obtained at the Bedford Office, in Tavistock.[Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.]
