Publication Details
Scenery on the southern coast of Devonshire; comprising picturesque views, at or near the fashionable watering places, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth, and Torquay. Sidmouth: J.Wallis. 1819.BUDLEIGH SALTERTON, FROM THE SEA.This is a very pretty Watering-Place, and being upon a small scale, is more peculiarly suited to invalids, and persons of retired habits, than larger and gayer places. The parish church, and an old dissenting meeting-house, being both at an inconvenient distance, LORD ROLLE has built a chapel for the accommodation of the members of the Establishment. The late Mr. LACKINGTON, the bookseller, of Finsbury-square, has built another for the Wesleyan Methodists. The view here given of Budleigh is very faithful.[Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.]
