Scenery on the southern coast of Devonshire; comprising picturesque views, at or near the fashionable watering places, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth, Dawlish, Teignmouth, and Torquay. Sidmouth: J.Wallis. 1819.ROCKS AT BRANSCOMBE.BRANSCOMBE is a most romantic and picturesque parish in the South of Devon. It is about six miles on the East of Sidmouth. It joins Salcombe, and is separated from Bere only by a small brook. It is defended by lofty cliffs from the ocean. The ride upon Berryhead, as the principal of them is termed, is remarkably fine. Under this lie the rocks, which are here described with so much spirit and fidelity: one of them, which in the course of time has been separated from the rest, looks like a huge column or dilapidated tower, standing on the very margin of the sea.[Text may be taken from a different source or edition than that listed as the source by Somers Cocks.]
