XLIV. VISCOUNT SIDMOUTH
The Right Hon.William Wells Addington, third Viscount Sidmouth, was born in 1824, and in 1864 (at which time he was representing Devizes in the House of Commons) succeeded to the title and estates. He is a D.L. and a J.P.for Devon, and a J.P. for Somerset. In 1848 he was married to Georgina Susan, daughter of the late Very Rev. the Hon.George Pellew, D.D.
His lordship, after joining the Royal Navy, retired in early life, though there was every indication of a great future before him in the Service. A country life, however, seemed more to his liking, and as an active magistrate and in other capacities he has distinguished himself. The noble Viscount has always taken a prominent part in politics, and has ever been ready to help forward any good cause.
