This drawing dates from after 1853 (by which time the work on the clerestory had been completed) but before 1878 when the pierced tracery and the rood screen to the left were removed. (with grateful thanks to Dr. P.E. Cattermole for this information).

Purchased from Clarke Ashworth, 1934. Artist has added a quote from Horace below the picture: "Nil sine magno vita labore dedit mortalibus." (Life gave nothing to people without great effort). Numbered 9 on top left corner.
