In pencil on verso: Exmouth, from a sketch by Miss N.Gifford of Cliff End (now the Lawn), done in 1842 for Mrs Sweetland, showing the land reclaimed by the coming railway, before that was unclaimed. The water came up to the cliff and to the garden of Cliff End. The original belongs to Mrs Grenfell - copied by Mrs Agatha Vansittart 1923
