The author lived for a while at Trull, Somerset. She moved to Bath where she died but was given a military funeral in Trull.
In a preface tp this edition by Horatia K. F. Gatty, dated May 1886, the author is said to have gained inspiration by her move to 'Villa Ponente', Taunton, where she cultivated flowers.
